Zwave transmission

Looking to see what kind of distance from hub people are getting on zwave devices. I am looking to relocate my bridge, router and PI to a room upstairs but wondering if the zwave devices will be undetectable.

I get decent range in my apartment, but depending on your stuff and the materials your house is made of; it can be an issue. So you may just have to try it…

ZWave is a mesh network so you shouldn’t be limited to “line of sight” if you have enough nodes that can act as repeaters (usually anything that is powered).

Bear in mind that if you do move things around you will mess things up badly as the controller has expectations as to which devices it can talk to directly vs those that it has to talk through via intermediate devices. If you run a network heal a time or two and give it some time, it should be able to figure this out.

Great info. I currently only have a door keypad and thermostat connected. I was holding off on installing the other nodes until I had a final resting spot for my controllers. I have a 2800 sqft 2 story home with normal wood framing. I think inadvertently I created a repeating effect with my current devices not knowing they can do that.
