ZWave - Unable to extend range?

I have a battery power door sensor on my postbox outside. My HAS Nuc is in my office at the back of the house with the USB Zwave stick. With this configuration the door sensor is out of range.

So my solution was to install a signal booster and in this case I opted for a smart plug. I joined this to my Zwave network (none secure method) and plugged it in next to the front door. BUT this hasn’t improved the signal.

Could anyone give me some pointers as my research suggested that the smart plug should boost my Zwave network. I also read that I should bring the door switch back in range and heal the network. With the old Zave integration there was the option but it’s currently missing in ZwaveJS so not sure if this an option?

Thanks in advance!

it’s not an option (yet) with zwavejs but it is an option with zwavejs2mqtt which contains its own control panel.

OK cool, I may take a look at zwavejs2mqtt and see if that solves it.

You don’t happen to knew if I could connect the zwave stick to my PC and heal the network?

Maybe? :man_shrugging:

if you have the software on the PC then you probably could. As long as two different applications aren’t accessing the stick at the same time then you should be Ok.

Did you run a heal network afterwards

No I haven’t run a network heal that feature is not yet in zwavejs? Unless I am mistaken…
