2023: Home Assistant's year of Voice

Been following a bit here, did the voice project actually go anywhere? I was waiting on Rhasspy 3.0 but it seems like HA hired the lead dev there which killed the future of that project, and no real default voice solution has come forward to replace it.
I know its “year of the voice” etc., but was there any actual progress and/or a suitable replacement default voice add-on?

Uh… yes? Have you followed any of the changes this year? Wyoming, piper, and openwake word for all local voice control.

How about the last link in the post above yours?

I’m using this. It’s fully compatible with Wyoming Protocol. You should just add this to wyoming after you install and configure addon:

Just listened part 5. Cool stuff, i use that firmware (customized to show clock) for a week already…

Didn’t hear anything related to continuous conversation. Is it on roadmap?
Conversation ID is there already, so context can be preserved i guess - but HA doesn’t support it.

Would be cool at least to have ability to initiate conversation from HA (like, make voice announcement and wait for the answer, similar to what Alexa Actionable Notifications is doing). It would allow to bind this together in the future, and bring more versatility to Assist.

When is year of the voice over? I feel like I am in the minority who doesn’t care about voice control.

Don’t worry, 16 days to go.

Don’t worry. I don’t care either. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

It is a bummer people think that nothing else was done than voice.

There were many more things other than voice.
