2024.9: Sections go BIG

I didn’t say there is a fix - I said it is being fixed. Just last night, someone identified the change which caused this crash.

Now that it’s been identified, it will be easier for the devs to release a fix, either in one of the HA hotfix releases (2024.9.2 or 3) or in the companion app itself. Follow that github issue and I’m pretty sure people will post there once it’s fixed.

Until that’s done, your only option is to restore a backup from 2024.8 if you want your iPad to work again.

A big thank you to the Developers.
I really like this “unknown loads” thing, and it reflects my use of HA.

I wanted to ask if it was possible to also implement the graph below, with the total of “unknown loads” so as to have the total at a glance.

Thanks and keep it up…

What are you saying?

Never thought I would ever say this about software (and I have been a developer for 40+ years) but you guys release updates TOO often. This isn’t a complaint but an acknowledgement of keeping the software fresh and active.

Thank you for providing a great solution. So glad I migrated from SmartThings years ago.

Is it me or does it seem that 2024.9.x has caused far more issues than previous releases? It’s certainly far too unstable for me to rely on. It broke the Hive integration, half of my (thankfully decreasing number) Tuya devices stopped responding and some of my matter devices were lost. Reading the comments I don’t seem to be unique in these things. I really don’t think it’s ready for installing.

If I have to skip it is that really possible? What is the oldest version people are still successfully running? Can I stay on 2024.8.x for a long time?

missed the beta this release, so can only post on the subject of the template editor now. And tbh, wonder why this wasnt mentioned before, as the changes seem rather fundamental

the layout of the view changes only on very small screen size, making the desktop editor requiring an almost full screen browser to not have to scroll the templates.

I am not a particular fan of the new ‘result’ card layout, but believe that is a mere cosmetic change?

However, having the editor card be so narrow before moving to

does cause workflow trouble. Would be great if the change would be set on a much lower max-with media_query

Do you notice any difference compared with earlier “Dev tools - Template” in part of this “2 columns or 1 column” issue?
Btw, my not merged PR (which from 2023 and was updated recently) about independent scrollbars in “2 columns” mode can be updated in part of possible mediaquery alterations.

It’s you. Fine here.

A smooth upgrade for me, especially the DB upgrade: My 4.8GB DB took 3 min 18 sec on a dual core 1.8GHz Intel Celeron, 1.8GB memory and SSD. I upgraded straight from 2024.6.2, due to the issues with the new badges when it was released.

My only hiccup was the underlying library for psutils (used by the system monitor integration). As an HA Core user, I had to reinstall psutils in the virtual environment.

Well that’s a typical “I’m alright jack” response from HA of old… Well done. What about all the other “this is broken” posts?

You asked if it was you or the release. I gave a personal response. Don’t ask if your don’t want an honest answer. Also you only have 3 posts here. I am not saying my time on the forum means I have any superiority, but if you want to speak of the “HA of old”, speak from experience.

There are no outstanding relevant issues on the hive integration.

Similarly there don’t seem to be any relevant issues for Tuya. I did see someone post that they fixed some Tuya problem by simply reloading the integration.

Matter integration is in beta. Please contribute to development by posting to GitHub.

Lastly, if you have all this experience, you would know that you can stay on any version as long as you want. But you might want to consider the post immediately above yours

I had to roll back to 2024.8.3 as lots of things vanished from my dashboard.

“a lot of things” is unhelpful.

Does this update mean we might see native support from aqara devices like a100?

Is the nice Car battery card implemented ? shown @23:00

That is a tile card, it has been available some time now. But the scrollbar is normally you cannot select afaik. So maybe some template was used to convert it to a type that can show the bar?

I’m still hating the new badges. I was hoping for a change to make them more configurable. Is there a way to wrap the text in the "new badges " description and move the text to the bottom instead of the top ?

I’ve understood, having more than 10 days configured in e.g. mariaDB, causing some problems after performing the update to 2024.09.01 because of database migration. On my end, I’ve tried already 3 times. Always after ~5h I’m getting “Database migration failed” without any further details. My DB is stored on Synology NAS with SSD and plenty enough disc space. DB size is just 5GB.
Now I’m looking for a manual process to migrate the database on another system or with another command. Is there any alternative instead of going back to just 10 day history recording ? It works now since a year without any problem. Would be great, if somebody would have a smart hint.

And by the way a big thank to the developers. I really appreciate all you efforts you have spent already in creating such a great product!

Update2:
I could solve the issue by adjusting my.conf MariaDB config file by those lines:
[mysqld]
innodb_buffer_pool_size = 1G
innodb_log_file_size = 1G
innodb_io_capacity = 1000
innodb_strict_mode = 0
innodb_read_io_threads = 16
innodb_write_io_threads = 16
lower_case_table_names = 1
tmpdir=/volume3/tmpMariaDB

Update of DB tooks now 30 minutes :slight_smile:

No issues here either. Rebuilding my dashboard now that I have a full width card option.
