2026.5: We're on the same frequency now πŸ“‘

The only tip I can offer is to configure your "semantic data", if you haven't already.

The new range of HA features are based on "data about data", so for instance if you haven't configured Settings -> Areas, Labels & zones, and added locations to devices, then the automatically formatted dashboards won't give neat headings of floors and areas (rooms).

The direction of HA (as with openHAB previously), is to use "semantic data", such as the hierarchy of floors -> areas and device databases (Z-Wave, Zigbee, etc) to reduce the manual config needed.

A major openHAB release forced you to configure buildings, floors, locations before the data was used much, causing some confusion as the purpose wasn't clear.

HA is adding semantic features more slowly, with more experimentation so the purpose can get missed.

The larger change was with entity naming standards to stop "Location Device Name Device Name” with location and type separated from name. If you have an older install, and have never run "Recreate Entity IDs" the naming change may not be obvious.

(Backup and install Spook before going to an integration and running "Recreate Entity IDs" - you may find a lot of renaming maintenance!)
