A radical idea

Settings > System > Hardware > Shutdown host.

That no longer exists. The only way to shut down the host is via the CLI. This is by design to prevent the common confusion about the difference between restarting the HA service and rebooting.

How did I get a screenshot of it then?
Confused. (Didn’t try it, but it’s there).

What version are you on?

Must be a 2022.6 thing then.

I’m actually on 2022.6.0b6 and it’s still in Settings->System->Hardware, if you click the 3 dots at the top right.

Ugh! The damn “meatball menu” again.

“Settings > System > Hardware > Shutdown host.”

Nope. that tab doesn’t even exists in the latest version.

I use this in panel-redirect in v2022.5.5 to show Supervisor page, not sure how long that will stay though:

- name: panel-redirect
  url_path: redirect-dashboard
  sidebar_title: Supervisor
  sidebar_icon: mdi:card-bulleted-settings-outline
  module_url: /local/panel-redirect.js
  config:
    target: /hassio/system

Or you can use http://192.168.1.40:8123/hassio/system

that worked, thanks.

Still, an accessible button is needed.
You want to make home assistant “noob friendly”, or the software is gonna die pretty quickly.
And shutting down is something is gonna be needed every now and then, specially for a noob who is trying a lot of things and messing with a lot of things.

That makes perfect sense to me. Not something a noob is going to click on accidentally, and the language is clear enough. “Hardware” and “shutdown” are pretty hard to misunderstand.

I hope this isn’t removed. If it were, this FR would get my vote immediately.

‘It is removed’.
At least on my raspberry pi, using latest version, installed two days ago.
This tab doesn’t even exists anymore.
As far as i can see, there is no shut down button anywhere now. Only way is calling shut down service, or access the now hidden supervisor page, by writing the url manually in the browser.

People so concerned about a noob shutting down accidentally, wich has no negative consequences, he can just turn it on again… i don’t understand.

I don’t know why we need a Ui at all. They should just go back to console commands for the whole lot

It seems there’s some uncertainty here. I won’t be in a position to update to 2022.6 for at least a couple of weeks, so I won’t know for sure until then. Certainly if there’s no way to shut down the host from the UI, I’ll be adding a button of my own, and adding my vote to this FR.

It’s in the meatball menu (as tom says, I like that lol). Still in Settings → System → Hardware just a new spot in that page.

And yes this button is helpful

Right. Read the above thread. There was confusion because it moved in 2022.6. Hence why I’m showing 2022.6. You’re showing 2022.5.

ok, but if it is removed then i am on the side of those people saying i would like to have it back.

Scroll one post up from yours. Moved, not removed, I just showed you where.
