I bought a few of these bulbs that already had WLED, https://www.athom.tech/blank-1/wled-15w-color-bulb. I’ve been using them in the driveway and I have an automation that turns them off at sunrise. The problem is that about half the time, I will go out to see 1 or all of them on after having gone off. I see the traces and they are being turned off, AND the lights are off in my dashboard, even though they are actually on. How do I find out what’s happening? I’m open to any ideas. One I had is that they are somehow losing connection and turning back on when they reconnect. To test this, I moved an AP right near them and it made no difference.
I am having the same issue. It just started last week on a bulb that had otherwise been great for a long time. Nothing in HA is turning mine on when it happens, it’s just random.
Not sure how to find out what’s happening with it since we can’t connect a serial connection to monitor anything…
I think I have solved this issue… in a sense.
There are two settings I changed this morning (I know I need to try one at a time to determine which is the fix, that’s next) but in the WLED settings there are:
- Turn on after power up Y/N Whether the lights should turn on after a reset
- WiFi sleep Y/N Disabling WiFi sleep can increase reliability, but increases power consumption
I disabled both of these and the light has not randomly come back on at all so far, around 6 hours.
So next I’ll work out which of these two settings actually did the trick and report back. If it’s the power on setting, then it could be that the bulb is faulty and rebooting for some reason. I’m suspecting a hardware fault given that it wasn’t randomly turning on for the first few months of use.
Hi, were you able to figure it out?
I haven’t had a chance to test the two options individually yet, just been too busy. I’ve just logged into it and unselected the ‘disable deep sleep’ under the wifi settings and I’ll see how that goes.
It’s now been over 12 hours since the last settings change (re-enabled the deep sleep option) and the light hasn’t randomly turned on nor gone unavailable in that time.
There’s also version 0.14.2 of WLED out now which may help this issue but I didn’t see anything obvious in the change log.
Thanks. Interested to know how it goes. I wasn’t home today to monitor.
