Any good room presence detection sensors out there?

Hi @mattdm
So glad you reached out. Yes, lots of exciting progress on this. A room can have multiple sensors for each entrance. Events can then be set up for the room (any time somebody enters this room do x) or at a sensor level (if this sensor triggers this room having a person in it … handy if you have a bathroom or walk in closet and want an extra light to go on, but don’t turn off the other one).

Seth asked a question above that I didn’t reply to publicly, so anyone interested, yes, the device works with home assistant so it can communicate with tons of smart devices.

If you’re interested in learning more, or staying plugged in, drop me a note here to be added to our mailing list: Contact — Smart Home Occupancy Sensor

Thanks for your interest!

Hey all, wanted to keep the group updated. I just posted a video of this coming together.

Microwave helps identify actual presence of leather sacks of H2O within about 15ft. E.g. LD2410B for DIY & bluetooth

… or, Aqara FP2 for non-DIY & Wi-Fi but about as fussy on the software side.

Here is a good review of the C1001.

It looks like it can detect presece, position, falls, respiration rate, heart rate and even a sleep score.

I’m using a relatively cheap Tuya mmWave Presence detector

It’s Zigbee and connects well with my network. It’s USB powered and I just plugged it in with an old phone charger. I find it super useful because now I can finally turn off the AC when there’s no one in the room for 5 minutes, an automation that works very well for me.

The only issue with it that on ZHA it requires a quirk, but I’ve gotten used to these quirks already as the “price of doing business” with Zigbee I guess. I have a few devices already that need those quirks. The code for the quirk for this device, if anyone comes here looking, is here:
