Any reason Wink doesn't support thermostats?

So I’ve been converted to HA by geekofweek and loving it so far. I use Wink as the hub basically for most my devices now, as I have the HomeSeer SmartStick+ for Z-Wave but it’s not working that well, there’s delays turning on the lights and it won’t add my Schlage locks at all. They add but don’t work, so going to just use Wink. Is there any reason it doesn’t support thermostats though? I was trying to make the door locks work with the SmartStick because I just assumed Wink’s plugin didn’t support them either if thermostats didn’t work but was surprised when I saw they do. Is it a technical limitation? Right now I’m using my USB Z-Wave stick literally just for the thermostat, be nice to ditch it.

Huh? I used to have a Honeywell thermo that was fully supported in Wink and then moved to an ecobee, which is also supported fully.

I also had both running in HA, so I’m not sure what you mean when you say Wink doesn’t support thermostats. Can you clarify?

As far as getting the Schlage locks to work, I have mine paired to my Wink hub but if you want to go the secure ZWave route, check out this thread:

Well I have a Z-Wave thermostat which I had connected to Wink, but it doesn’t show up as a device. When I go to https://home-assistant.io/components/wink/ it shows Wink Locks, Wink Sensors, Wink Switches etc, but there’s no Wink Thermostat so I assumed that confirmed that it’s not supported.

It works with Wink directly, but HA doesn’t seem to know about it. Aren’t the Honeywell ones Wifi thermostats and not Z-Wave?

Yes - you are right on the Honeywell. What thermostat do you have specifically?

It’s this one here https://www.amazon.ca/CT100-Z-Wave-Programmable-Thermostat-White/dp/B008CQ4V3Q it’s actually really awesome, takes batteries which last over a year so don’t need the C wire as my new house didn’t have that for some reason. It works perfect with HomeSeer, Wink, ISY994 etc. Maybe I can test it again but when I tried last night and had it connected to the Wink it never added in HA as a device, so when I saw no mention of Wink Thermostats I just assumed it was a no go and connected it with the Z-Stick directly. Just rather avoid that if possible since I just bought that stick for my HomeSeer trial so could return it if I don’t need it. Was only $50 so not bad but I guess worst case I could return it and put that towards a Wi-Fi or whatever thermostat. This one just works so well, it’s probably one of my most reliable Z-Wave devices to be honest, I’ve never had a single issue with it.

Well, to be fair Wink supports thermostats but it’s support of ZWave devices outside of what they specifically state as compatible is going to be spotty at best.

Sorry what I’m saying is it works perfectly fine with Wink, but Home Assistant doesn’t seem to support using the Wink has a hub to access a thermostat. All my locks, lights etc are Z-Wave connected to Wink, and HA loads them in just fine, but it ignores the thermostat like it doesn’t exist. If I use the Wink app it works as expected, no issues at all.

I might just change it anyway, was working via Z-Wave direct with HA but now I rebooted and it’s gone. I’ve rebooted a ton since then but suddenly no more Z-Wave devices at all. Seems a bit too buggy, even the OpenZWave thing says it’s alpha not even beta lol. So might look at a wifi thermostat which is supported, just so expensive for them when our house is always cool and rarely needs the AC or heat touched!

The current wink repo does not currently support wink thermostats :frowning: https://github.com/python-wink/python-wink
I have a Sensi and keep hoping it will get added, door locks and a few others things have been added over the last several months but not thermostats. I tried play with it but failed :frowning:
