Apple TV App for Home Assistant - HA Control

In fact this thing is completely bugged, it does not connect, if you try to replace http with https, it ejects before the end of the edition, if you try to enter with the iPhone it asks you for a name and password of session. Waste of time, deleted and requested a refund.

Same issues here.

This is an excellent idea and something I’ve been longing for on my ATV, but it’s very clunky and buggy to get set up.

When I try to enter a URL, I hit the letter ā€˜h’ (to type http) and it immediately closes the text field and returns the error ā€˜URL must start with http:// or https://. I know…that’s what I was trying to type. At this point it is no longer possible to type in this field again, app must be reset to defaults to try again. Only way I made it work was to use my iPad as the TV remote, then paste the URL instead of typing it.

Once you get past the clunky setup it works pretty well, except when viewing a history graph with lots of points, which causes the whole UI to lag, so I can’t even select a smaller time window.

I’d also like to see an option to disable the screensaver while viewing entities, but that’s just a nice-to-have not a bug fix.

Thank you for the bug reports! A new version has already been under review by Apple for a week now, but unfortunately, it still hasn’t been processed. I’ve just contacted their support again to follow up.

This update includes improvements for handling the server URL. I’ll let you know as soon as the update is approved and released.

I’d love to include this feature as well, but unfortunately, Apple doesn’t allow ā€œnon-video appsā€ to override the screen saver — it’s a platform restriction. However, I’ll look into whether there’s a workaround that complies with Apple’s guidelines.

Hi, I just install HA control on my apple TV. Then create acc in HA OS on raspbery PI 5, generate token put it in json file. I put it in /homeassisstant folder:

When I try do get token i get timeout. Can you help? I try to create www folder in /homeassistant but after I’m not able to log in again after restart.

I think you may have created it in the wrong location. Here is the official Home Assistant documentation regarding file hosting:

You need to create the file exactly as described there. Once the folder has been created, make sure to fully restart Home Assistant — a simple YAML reload is not sufficient.

thank you works!

Good news for the coming update.
And what about group syntax ?
Dev tool check give an error and Homeassistant documentation advice to avoid this old syntax.
We don’t recommend using these old-style groups anymore.

I love the app!!
Everithing works very smooth and I love to control my home from the TV

Just one think, I would like to have more groups and not just 3.
I would need 12 in total to get all rooms

Any chance to get it?

So you mean to tell me that after reading all these paragraphs on how to get this thing running With more questions than answers that I have to drop my security two factor authentication to make this run?

There’s no help man I’m sorry. I’m in the same boat if it makes you feel better… Some kind of cool club you gotta be part of to get an answer on this

I second this.
I’d love to work with more than just 3 groups.

hi
i want to say thank you for this app you do a very good job.
thank you so much.

Hello - I am very new to HA - have done some things like set up a dashboard for temps / cooling / cctv / car charging and batteries etc. Downloaded the HA Control App - very good and installed the token. But I am missing a trick somewhere - I can see the Apple TV as 1 device with 2 entities related to on / off - you are likely the wrong person so apologies in advance - but how do I go about getting my dashboard installed only for now - I can explore the rest later - many thanks and looking forward to hopefully seeing this on a few TVs
