Apple TV On HassOS

Great to hear! I do not have plans regarding UI, that is something I will leave to other card makers.

when will the stable version be released? maybe as an already visible ui integration?

Hopefully soon, it’s a big PR so it takes a lot of time to get it through. But within the next few releases I hope.

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but after upgrading to 0.110.x a couple of log entries show up which I’m sure are known, but just in case:

RemoteDevice is deprecated, modify AppleTVRemote to extend RemoteEntity
MediaPlayerDevice is deprecated, modify AppleTvDevice to extend MediaPlayerEntity

I hope this fixed will be coming soon

Hi,
I have a fresh install of HassOS; I tried to install the beta component via HACS, but I can’t find it in the integrations. Docs say I have to go to HACS settings tab and add the github url repo, but there is no HACS settings button. Any idea?
Also, there is no service for apple_tv scan (but I guess it comes with the component)

I think the custom repositories moved to HACS -> Integrations -> Three dots in top right corner -> Custom repositories. You don’t have to care about any services anymore (that is old and deprecated), just add a new device from the integration page.

Waw, that was a fast and efficient answer, thank you very much!

Will this become an official component at some point?

Yes, it will.

Awesome. How mature is it? I just want to have playback status for my ATV (don’t need to control it).

I’m wondering too. Seems to me it’s ready to go official - what’s the hold-up?

Working on it, smoking out a few bugs (and took some vacation time from pyatv). But I’m gonna try to get things moving within the next few days.

Sounds great, looking forward to it!

Awesome. Thank you.

Hi guys - is there any way to launch a specific app using one of the remote or media player commands?

Only by blindly navigating the menus using the remote. Launching apps like the a shortcuts app uses another protocol that I haven’t reversed completely yet.

Thanks @postlund. I think that if I strategically place my apps I can navigate using the directional remote actions. Should get the job done.

Yeah, I know some people have managed to get that to work. So should be possible.
