The Aqara E1 Hub actually has 2 modes, one for Xiaomi APP, One for Aqara APP. We need the later one. (I will write how to switch mode later)
The FW version also important, mine is 3.3.2
Add into Apple Home / Aqara Home first, and make sure you add all needed accessories. Then delete the E1 hub in Apple Home. The E1 hub and all accessories will appears in HA HomeKit controller, automatically or you may add them through the HomeKit Controller integration.
Mode switch,
The default mode is for Xiaomi APP, I tried many times to add it into HA Homekit controller, never work for me. It can only be added to Xiaomi Mi Home APP or Apple Home APP. In this mode, it can’t even be add to Aqara Home APP.
Here is how to switch.
When power up finished. click the button on E1 Hub 10 times.
The light start to flash red (and other colors), wait until this reset finished.
When the light start to flash yellow. quickly double click the button, the light flash white (twice) and back to yellow. - mode switch successful. - Now you can add it to Aqara Home APP or Apple Home APP. The additional options will appear - alarm function.
I was able to successfully pair my hub and a sensor to Home Assistant using HomeKit on iOS, I believe the process is actually easier for the Android users out there.
Perform the 10 presses, 2 press action mentioned earlier in this thread to switch it to HomeKit mode
Add the hub to the Home app, I had issues with this step so I kept retrying step 1 and holding the button for 10 seconds to reset it and eventually it added no problem
Step number 2 gives the hub your network information, DO NOT reset the hub after you’ve reached this point
Remove the hub from the Home app
Go to Home Assistant and add a new HomeKit Controller integration
Complete the pairing using the code on the stick
An important note: the hub can only be paired to one HomeKit environment, which is why removing from the Home app is necessary.
Most if not all of this information is in this thread already, I’m hoping to summarize it for my own and others future use.
Thank you Sir, it helped me a lot. The only thing different was that I didn’t remove the hub from Aqara app. First time I did, but HomeKit config couldn’t proceed in HA. Second time, did not remove the hub and it worked instantly. Hope it helps someone else.
Hi! I have e1 hub and smart lock n100 (support Bluetooth and ZigBee).
The lock is connected to the hub and works fine (inside aqara app).
The hub connected to HA via HomeKit, but the e1 not share the lock (works only as an alarm)
The lock itself can directly connect to HA (via HomeKit), but it is unstable (I can say it doesn’t work at all)
Hi i have the Aqara E1 hub, Home assistant found it no problem come to set up 2 entry’s ? picked one and set up temp sensors & motion sensors “all working with the Aqara app” but not in HA so went to reconfigure in HA but no way of picking the entity so re set all back up on Zigbee in HA and all working fine.
So removed the Aqara E1 hub from home kit in HA and then reboot and put the power back to the E1 and HA picked it up (now only one entry) but clicking to configure it nothing and it will not srt up ??
I must admit this is all new to me and i understand this is not plug and play and i do like a challenge but this one has me stuck ! so hope some one might point me in the right direction.
I have Aqara E1 hub and D100 door lock, finally managed to get both integrated to HA using Aqara Home app on Android tablet and Homekit Device Integration.
Sharing the steps that worked for me, hopefully will save others the frustration I went through.
Add E1 to Aqara Home App. I was initially using my Android work phone, but it wasn’t working (giving error: Failed to send network access information) presumably because of some restriction on the work phone; but using Aqara Home app on a personal android tablet worked flawlessly.
I did try other things noted in this and other threads before I realised the issue was the android device; you may have to try these if you still having issues:
change E1 hub mode (press button 10 times to reset then double-click button)
turn off 5GHz wifi
change wifi password to have no special characters
Add Aqara door lock in Aqara Home app as binded accessory to the E1 hub.
Remove the hub and door lock from Aqara Home app.
Add E1 hub back in as per Step 1. The hub then automatically got discovered as a Homekit device in HA. Add into HA using the homekit pairing code XXX-XX-XXX.
Add door lock back in as per Step 2. The lock then automatically got discovered as a Homekit device in HA. Add into HA using the homekit pairing code XXX-XX-XXX.
Has anyone managed to connect non-Aqara devices to the E1, e.g. Philip Hue Bulb, or a Chinese made LED strip? My E1 is struggling to reach every corner of our house and garden, so I’m I would like to use a main powered Zigbee device (see as these examples) as paired repeaters… or routers… whatever the term is. If you’ve managed this, I would be grateful on any share tips…TIA.
Got the T1 Led Strip working as a Zigbee repeater? I was told by Aqara support to “Connecting sensors to your hub firstly, then unplug your E1 hub, wait a couple of minutes and then press the reset button 3 times of the accessories you want to pair with the light strip T1. Then plug in your hub again.” but my all my devices went off line the moment that I killed the power to the E1. I continued with the instructions but to no avail.
Has anyone experimented with Matter on HA with either the E1 or T1? (Or M2). Is the pairing process the same as with HA to E1 (for Zigbee), i.e. pair with HomeKit, remove the connection, then pair with HA?
