Aquara vibration sensor will only connect to hub

I have a Aquara vibration sensor on my tumble dryer. I recently switched to the sky connect and can connect it perfectly directly. However, when it’s in my garage it’s out of range. Despite having a Hue Plug working as an extender right next to it. I have other ZigBee devices using the extender but the Aquara sensor will only talk to the main hub.

Any ideas how I can get this to work?

Aqara and Xiaomi devices (especially older models) are infamously known for bad/buggy firmware that requires re-pairing if you relocate/mode them, or if you add Zigbee Router devices later, or not willing to connect via all brands/models of Zigbee Router devices. See:

Summery; add more/other Zigbee Router devices to your Zigbee network mesh (and give them a few hours or a day for meshing to stabilize), then re-pair the Aqara devices at the final location where it will be located permanently. If you ever relocate/mode such Aqara devices then you will need to re-pair them again at their new location.
