Australian Public Holidays

I came across this for something we’re doing at work, and thought it’d be a pretty amazing addition to Home Automation systems (who doesn’t like a sleep in?).

The Australian Government post a dataset of public holidays around the country, it’d be great if there could be some sort of binary sensor to detect public holidays based on a State/Territory config (or possibly location/timezone).

The dataset can be found here (and from what I can tell is a static source).

I did have a look for something more ‘international’, but it gets tricky with state specific holidays. All the sites I looked at didn’t have a consistent naming convention (at least as far as Australia goes), or only included national holidays.

You could ask the author of this if he can change it to add what you want if it doesn’t do it already.

This exists as a standard component:

Works for me here in NSW.

Thanks I learn something new everyday

Awesome! I clearly need to search better…
