Firstly, if we’re talking strawman arguments, then “egregious engineering mistake” is a fine example of one. What I described was a “best practice”. Secondly, that it was not implemented for a long time does not necessarily make it unimportant, it could have just been overlooked. That it was eventually implemented kind of negates the point you’re trying to make, no? In any case, I feel that you’re just being intentionally argumentative, so I will bow out of this part of the discussion and try to stick to the technical discussion of the FR itself.
It’s been my experience that this extra effort is needed in most automations and scripts, if the goal is to make them fault tolerant.
