For me it is not fixed in Android 15 either, it is an annoying bug because my automation based on the location tracker just does not work properly anymore.

Same here. Just updated to Android 15 on my Pixel 8 pro. I have updates set for 1min which works fine in app. In background…super sporadic. Tried with Android adaptive battery turned off as well.
I might have to use network connections to aid in my location automations
Issue persists with Android 15 on all my family phones…
Confirming the same with 2x Pixel 8’s running android 15. Tried everything mentioned but location updates are very sporadic as well.
Same issue with a Pixel 3 and a Pixel 3a XL on Android 12, which don’t even get OS updates anymore. It was working well when initially set up, but for half a year or so have been very unreliable at best. All sensors stop updating after the screen has been off for a short time. Both have background access enabled and a persistent connection enabled, which always shows connected, adaptive battery & adaptive data disabled, etc… The pixel 3 is worse, but the HA app very rarely is opened on it.
The only way I could get my Pixel 8a to be consistent again was to enable the following sensors in the companion app:
App sensors > App importance
Last Update sensor > Last update trigger
Power sensors > Interactive
I also have Last Notification sensor enabled but I’m not allowing anything on it so I don’t think that one is necessary.
But after enabling those and restarting the app, the location went back to instantly updating even with the screen off after a while. No persistent connection and only Fast While Charging sensor updates. Maybe it’ll work for someone else.
