Battery sensor update frequency

Hi,
We are using a number of android tablets at events for judges to input scores into an electronic scoring system.
I’ve recently added HA to monitor battery levels on each and it works well apart from the update interval being quite sporadic across all devices.
They’re all setup in the same way with the same settings etc. Some update every few minutes, and others are hours between updates.
Please can anyone share some tips where to start looking to diagnose and hopefully change this.
Apologies if this has been covered previously!
Many thanks in advance

There’s lots of details we’d need to work out what is going on, but basically:

Assuming:

  • Recent Android OS version (Google Pixel version)
  • Current HA Android App
  • Background app and other settings as the documentation
  • Backgound updating is the same for GPSr location as battery level
  • (Samsung Android is more aggressive than Google Pixels at killing background app activity in the name of battery saving)

Please can anyone share some tips where to start looking to diagnose and hopefully change this.

If this helps, this post!

Thanks @FloatingBoater
I’ll check all the info you mention in the initial reply.

As an aside, the charging symbol seems to update in realtime, it’s just the battery level that seems to be delayed or not updating at all in some instances.
I’ll post a further update when I’ve had a chance to check software versions etc

In checking the tablet settings I have discovered a built in battery optimisation mode specific to each app - no doubt a quirk of Samsung (and other android) tablets. Since turning this off updates seem to be more regular. I’ll change the rest of them and report back if any further issues.
