Best/easiest temperature sensor for automation?

ESP8266 might be cheaper. Make sure you get a board with 5V USB power input like the Wemos D1 Mini, or you’ll be spending more on 3.3V power supplies.

Which USB RTL-SDR did you go with? I’m looking for one that is compatible out of the box with HA.

Are the boards with the camera any good? These could be useful for me to install some extra security cameras about the place. Killing 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak. A lot cheaper than the common ezviz cameras I buy.

This is the one I purchased from Amazon, but when you say compatible out of the box, I am using rtl_433 & mqtt to hook into HA

Check on Youtube - there have been a few guys posting lately with reviews on the camera setup - you would have to confirm that ESPHome would work with the Camera (i don’t think so yet) as well as the BLE scanning

That’s it, I have decided my next business venture. Sell ESP32 in UY
25 American Dollars?

Seems like it is hard to get cheaper than $40 for a wifi option.
e.g. The Google Nest Temperature Sensor

For a long time I have thought there should be a way to use cheap sensors like https://www.acurite.com/shop-all/weather-instruments/weather-sensors-and-parts/replacement-parts/indoor-outdoor-temperature-humidity-sensor.html?ref=name

But that requires a “hub” like https://usa.banggood.com/433MHz-CC1101-USB-Wireless-RF-Transceiver-Module-10mW-USB-UART-MAX232-RS232-Low-Power-Transparent-Data-Transmission-p-1573143.html

But I think this should work with rflink in theory.

Haha you wish. Try adding the 60% import taxes plus customs release fees and costs for the agent to sign the paperwork.
Really awful system.

Hi. A little late, but I found a nice, off-the-shelf easy solution. Here’s the link:

There’s a HACS plugin for Ecowitt. The base module (very small) connects via WiFi and then transmits to HA. There are a number of blogs on it. Easy setup, works great!!

I gather you are using the RTL for communication. What are you using for temperature sensors? Very interested in your setup!

Using these from Amazon, AcuRite Wireless Indoor Outdoor Temperature and Humidity Sensor (06002M) Even have one in my old car, to determine if the car is home or away
