Xiaomi Gateway Integration

what is this?

It is a Door/Window Sensor modded to be a switch if I am not mistaken. Why you would do something like that is beyond me tho. There are actual switches from Xiaomi which also allow for “hold” and “double click”. Which are nice and clean looking imho.

This looks more like a “hack” and only seems reasonable if you have door/window sensors that you absolutely do not need.

This is also possible using the wireless button, very easy to do.

This is useful in situations where an aqara switch either doesn’t fit or is not suitable.
For example I have 3 switches in a single gang fitting. I only want to integrate one of these switches into my home automation and leave the other 2 intact. I can attach one of these hacked modules onto the back of the existing switch and hardwire the circuit so it is always on.

The reed switch hack allows a traditional on/off switch behaviour so its good for seamless hidden integration.
The xiaomi push switch are all momentary so wont be so easily integrated (hacked) into traditional on/off switch.

yes this is correct i should have mentioned this, Although using a momentary switch gives you access to the single press, double press & long press functionality too

Any video to understand how this work?

Exactly it is a door and window sensor moddated to be a switch. Let me explain and you will understand why I preferred to do this. I know the Xiaomi ready switch, and also a Wall Switch, but I wanted to keep the appearance of my current switches. It does not seem that in the rest of the world there is such a focus on the pre-requisites of the components, I could not install a xiaomi wall switch next to a pair of normal deviators, it would be visibly horrible! Surely my was a pastime, but it solved a problem. The solution proposed by @beanian is even better, as soon as possible I will realize it and at that point I’m sure I will not need the xiaomi wall switches or buttons. I also love to make these little hacks very cheap!

Cheers

AFAIK the app and gateway (and hence HA component) does not support it yet.

cooool!!! any idea where to get the rails from?

yeap!! i am being tempted to order one. but i need more info about the railing system and installation

i think its just a matter of time since its new

i found more info at this forum:
http://en.miui.com/thread-602002-1-1.html

It would nice to have something like this on my parrots room and have it open automatically at certain hour

This looks awesome! So by doing this with the wireless button you could have it turn on off with one press, dimming with long press and change temp of light with double click for example?

I guess one concern would be if there for some reason would be something wrong with the wifi, you would not be able to turn on/off the lights?

If you have broadlink rm pro you could interested in dooya https://youtu.be/6VvWpstiQ9g
