Can Shelly or Shelly2 dim lights?

I am looking for retro lights and want to keep the costs as cheap as possible, although that is not the most important thing

  • Cheap is not the most important, but the cheaper the better
  • Quality is more important then the price

There are a lot of retro lights that don’t cost much and those are dimmable (that’s important). I’m now wondering if there are smart switches like sonoff (that doesn’t dim) or shelly (does it?). That would be the cheapest way in my opinion.

Of that’s not possible I’ve seen some Osram and sylvania retro lights, but i don’t know if they can connect to hassio.

Also there’s a Fibaro dimmer (2), but that’s way more expensive than the shelly…

Hope you guys can help me out

I haven’t hooked up my Shelly’s yet but I’m pretty sure it’s only a relay on/off

I wonder, because here
http://smart-hub.eu/en/switches-dimmers/123-shelly-2-led-wifi-controller-for-2-led-lights-up-to-40w.html

it says * Dimming from 0-100%

Shelly 1, 1PM, 2 and 2,5 are all just on/off relays.

For your link shelly2LED it states:
DC Power Output 90V 500mA
So seems to run only some specific led lights? I’m not sure.

Have you checked the ikea trådfi system? It is a bit cheaper that hue for example.

Some links from the forum

I think its for 12/24V LEDs not 110-240V mains

Thanks for linking my project

For when a smart bulb will not cut it (e.g. decorative edison bulbs) I am going to try these:

They are supported by hue bridge and zigbee2mqtt.

You could use a https://shelly.cloud/wifi-smart-shelly-rgbw-2/ for dimming.

Only for dimming 12/14v strips though, right?

Yes, indeed.

Or a 12/24V led bulb… Mmmm not ideal

For WiFi based Mains Voltage dimming, the community seems to like this device quite a bit:

I have one, but I’ve not played with it yet.

You’ll need to use tuya-convert on it to free it from the OEM, and then install Tasmota (or, optionally, use ESPHome).

Perfect! That looks what I need
It 's only a pity that it doesn’t fit dutch wall panels

Shelly now has dimmers
