Cancel old Backups

Hello everyone,

since the new backup system I have a small problem.

I had already configured an automatic backup to my NAS before. Every day at 0 o’clock a complete backup.

Since the changeover to this new system at the beginning of January, these automatic backups have been created as manual backups. There is also no way for me to stop these automatic backups via the GUI.

I then configured the new automatic backup function with the ID as the password. Home Assistant now creates a complete backup once at 4:45 a.m. under “automatic backups” and unfortunately continues to create my old backup at midnight.

How can I stop my old automatic backup?

Hello Shadow27374,

You have an addon or something running that, turn it off or remove the addon, or whatever is running it.
It’s probably one of these:

Alternatives to Automatic Backups. Ways to do it yourself.

I still just use the google drive backup, old ones deleted automatically. You can still use that and have your NAS watch the local drive and mirror the local backup activity. Additions and deletions would then be automatically handled on your NAS (and on Google Drive bby the addon), and if worse comes to worse and the local setup is total destroysed (a fire, lightning destroyed NAS and RPI or whatever) you can still grab the latest full backup from your google account

So if you go to Settings>Automations, you don’t see an automation that is set to trigger at midnight each night?

I had completely forgotten about this thread. Just too much on my agenda…

I now remember how I set up the backup back then. It wasn’t an add-on or anything similar but an automation, i.e. a normal internal function of HA.

So the problem should be solved. Thanks anyway to everyone who wrote here.
