Cannot install/search the HACS integration

I was following some different instructions I suspect, so I had never downloaded the add-on package. I assumed it was in the registry of the platform as an official Add-on. A lot of bootstrapping to really get going, thank you for your patience.

Next will be debugging MQTT devices, but at least I have some of the tools to make headway.

I tried to start from here. I got a 404 page error.
Has it moved ?

Im not on Pi its a Beelink PC and HA is version 14
Also a newbie so there may be a few prelim steps I have not got to yet ……2024-12-19T00:00:00Z

That’s an old post, pages move

Start at the top (https://hacs.xyz/) and click Use.

Fast response ! Great thanks.
Its seems to hae worked well until i entered the auth key on github
Now the ha instance appears just to be waiting … ( circle going round). I tried repeating ( not sure I shouls). Same result. Do I just need to wait - over 15 mins and counting - or is there something else I should have done
Thanks

First download is dependant on your Internet connection, so may take a bit of time.

As always, check the (core) log.

Its FTTC broadband currently testing at 74.9Mb download and nothing in the logs ……

Logs show nothing

Github show both token request
1 To assign and
2 to regenerate

I just dont get the options to configure the HACS instance - assign area etc

Is there any chance HACS exists but hidden dye lack of configuration …

Check the HACS integration page then

Sorry to be thick - do you mean settings|devices and services ? - not there.

The get HACS log all seems to have run to completion ;

WARN: HACS directory already exist, cleaning up…

‘hacs.zip’ saved

INFO: Creating HACS directory…

INFO: Unpacking HACS…

INFO: Verifying versions

INFO: Current version is 2024.12.4, minimum version is 2024.4.1

INFO: Removing HACS zip file…

INFO: Installation complete.

INFO: Remember to restart Home Assistant before you configure it

Its just that HA does not seem to step on to allow config ….

Thanks for your help BTW

That HACS log just shows that HACS was downloaded.

Now, as mentioned in the HACS docs, you have to:

  1. Restart Home Assistant to load the custom integration
  2. Set up the HACS integration

Yes

Got that
1 Done
2 Where do I find HACS instal in order to configure it

Not in Front page side bar
Not in settings|devices

Just about walked through all options and sub-menus

Whats it gonna be like when I try to do something hard ?

In settings/devices, did you click the + button?

And have you followed these instructions to the letter

So i have this ….

So I never see it complete.

I can wffectively cancel it and come back in but cant find HACS

Which screen would I find the + on ?

So did you go to https://github.com/login/device and paste the key?

Yes. Although I suspect its something I have ( or hav’nt) done Ive followed the instruction to the letter.
Coiped the key and had the succesfuly authorised screen, but when I go back to HA its atill waiting for the authentication authorisation to arrive. I never see the screen at stage 7 step 1. Ive let it run over 30 mins but no option to assign an area.

Ok
Just found this in Home Assistant Core log but not sure what it means ….

Im treating the above as a red herring for now. When I reboot it does not re-occur.
Ive gone back to Github to see if it has correctly registered/authorised HACS.

There is nothing in OAauth. Still looking
