i used to be able to access my home assistant from my androids using firefox but not using the home assistant app (but that’s a topic for another thread) but not anymore.
since earlier this week when i try to connect, firefox gives me an error: 403: forbidden (when i’m connected to my wifi) or just a home assistant logo on a white bckground (when i’m out in the wild). the only way i can access home assistant is from my PC, but that is obviously not mobile.
at some point i noticed that the IP addresses of my androids were in the IP_bans file (WHY???) so i removed them, hoping that would sort out the problem, but it didn’t. so what could be the problem? what can i do about it?
Did you delete the Firefox browser cache on your phone?
nope. should i? then the question is, how?
perhaps you have a vpn on those devices?
Yes you should. Find out how…
Here’s how to clear the cache in Firefox on an Android device.
- With Firefox open, navigate to settings by tapping the three horizontal dots in the bottom right and selecting Settings.
- Tap Delete browsing data and make sure the box for Cached images and files is checked.
- Tap Delete browsing data.
nope, no VPN. i would remember if i had installed one, especially if it was only a few days ago.
ok, i’ll try that. let’s see if it works…
i just did that, and i still get the same error message when on my wifi. but strangely i can now connect from the mobile phone network.
Oké cool.
You could try another browser app (chrome or something) and test it. This way you can check if it’s browser related.
Otherwise you can simply reboot your internet router and try again from your local WiFi network.
Did anything changed? Did you run a Home Assistant update?
How is your Home assistant network settings configured in the settings of Home Assistant?
Do you use a Domain in the outside world?
Did you setup NGINX? Is it running?
i tried it with chrome, and on wifi i get the same error. so the problem is probably not on the phone.
but i did run an update before this problem started, so my main suspect is homeassistant.
no nginx here. what does it do?
my network settings are correct.
That question is related to a answer of the other questions I asked
Did you reboot your router? Try it…
Do you use a domain in the outsite world?
What URL are you using on your local network? 192.168.X.X:8123?
Everyone says it’s correct in the beginning
i don’t have a router, i have a modem, a firewall, a switch and an access point. i HATE all-in-one devices.
yeah, i have a duckdns domain which i use both for remote access and on my own wifi, and until earlier this week, it worked normally.
ok, maybe i should have said my network settings are still the same as when i set them up.
Isn’t the fact that his devices/IP’s were banned that he’s using an additional add-on?
Could be, I don’t know anything about a IP_Ban.file in HA.
