There are problems with almost anything, but the closer to vanilla you run, the less problems you have with any upgrades etc. It also means that you don’t fill these forums with recommendations about some widget you found on github that makes rounding a number easy, all you have to do is recompile part of the… You get the idea. It’s what helps the most people achieve their goals without requiring some obscure component.
I have not found any issues that I couldn’t fix just using automations and scripts. (with help perhaps from the people here 
).
If I ever do hit a bump I can’t surmount, I’ll probably go with appdaemon.
Different people like different tools.
