I finally got the remote access working!!!
I had to straighten out the SSL / non SSL issues that @danielperna84 pointed out, along with fixing the configurator settings per his instructions.
Then I did all the steps that @talondnb showed.
Now, the configurator works both locally and remotely!
I’ve been using HA since late August, and never thought I’d be able to get this settled!
Thanks everybody for helping me out! It is SOOOOOOOO appreciated!
Great news.
@talondnb for your pihole config, the IP address you use for hosts, is it the address of your raspberry pi, or do you use the address for your router?
I have the add-on running, but no ads seem to be getting blocked.
This is off topic now, but you need to adjust your DHCP settings on your router; set your primary DNS to your HA IP address, secondary to something like 1.1.1.1.
So lately I am unable to open the configurator from the sidepanel. I get an NGINX Error 502 Bad Gateway sign.
I didn’t change any configuration.
I tried restarting HA, and stopping and restarting the NGINX.
On the NGINX Home Assistant SSL Proxy, the log shows the following:
[INFO] Running nginx…
2019/06/12 12:06:03 [error] 22#22: *1 connect() failed (111: Connection refused) while connecting to upstream, client: ::ffff:71.153.196.132, server: XXXXX.duckdns.org, request: “GET /configurator/ HTTP/2.0”, upstream: “https://192.168.86.52:3218/”, host: “XXXXX.duckdns.org”, referrer: “https://XXXXX.duckdns.org/configurator”
I am still able to remotely access my HA using DuckDNS, and if I go into Hassio and into the configurator add-on, and open the configurator through the add on in a new window, I have access to it. Just not in the sidepanel icon.
Should I delete this add-on and reinstall?
Any other thoughts?
Did you figure this out? I’m running into the exact same issue - Configurator gives the 502 but the rest of the UI (and iOS app) works fine. I swapped my router firmware out and that’s all I can think of that could be causing it.
I had to rebuild my whole configuration due to SD card issue on my Pi. I dont have the NGINX up yet. I’ll report back when I do.
