Your feedback is contradictory. You say that your system is bare bones and that you swapped out hardware already. You answer my simple three step debugging recommendation with a lengthy explanation that you are an engineer with a life long experience. Then your last posting tells me that you did not even strip down the attached hardware from your system (step 1 of my recommendation and extremely easy to do).
Is it possible that you do ask for advice without being able to listen to valid answers? Sorry for being blunt but I think I’m out of here. As I’m an engineer too my time is to precious.
I did indeed swap the Aeotec stick with another one i’d borrowed (I did not have an identical one so I borrowed one from a friend) this did not fix the problem. Removing the stick entirely also did not affect my problem it did cause communications errors with the integration because the stick was missing - it didn’t matter core still crashed. We did not spend significant time with the stick removed because we had been adding z wave nodes. It had been working successfully until a reboot when it inexplicably started endless core reboots. Thanks for your help.
so i formatted a new SD card with the 32 bit image and it worked. I still don’t know why so I did another clean install of the 64 bit image and it also worked. I notice there was an unapplied HA update that I had not applied when i first started troubleshooting. Based on the console logs my best guess is some kind of corruption of some setting in a zwave config which eventually caused a supervisor error which just restarted all the containers. What’s even more confusing is that I reproduced this twice somehow - the only difference being that there is a newer version of HA core today but the release notes make no mention of a change which should have affected this. Thanks for your help
Did you have camera cards with live view by chance?
No nothing extra - just base image - apparently a problem with that particular build since it has not recurred
Cool mine happens when i turned my cameras to live view. thanks for responding.
