Continuing My Unifi Presence Detection Woes

Many thanks, but the problem has been sorted (rather simply as it happens). The Cloudkey database was causing the problem. A quick compact of the database and a reboot of the Cloudkey sorted it all out. Many thanks anyway.

@Robban

I posted the logs almost a month ago and haven’t heard whether they were useful or not.

From those logs the timestamps don’t look like they are wrong at all.

Again, unless I’m looking at the wrong information.

If I am just let me know what the correct information is to gather and I’ll gladly try to find it for you.

This is the issue where you are using other access points than UniFi right? In that case I need to add an option to disable the Unifi wired bug work around. I’ve been busy fixing other issues to UniFi, and could probably fix this shortly

yes.

Thanks for looking into again.

did this fix make it into v106?

No I’ve had other pressing matters to attend to

TBH, I’ve struggled with this issue as well and the best tracking that I have achieved was by deleting the entire unifi integration and installing the HA app on the phones. I then enabled the wifi connection sensor within the HA phone app and now the change of wifi connection status updates in HA within a second or two. For me, this is good enough because I have an outdoor AP mounted above the roof of my house. It has a range of well over 100 metres. When I approach in a vehicle the wifi connects and the automations begin before I get into my driveway.

I tried the proximity functions within the app and they are flaky, at best, but the wifi connection sensor is working well at the moment.

The Wifi bug from UniFi is supposedly fixed by Ubiquiti in the releases the last two months. I will give it six months and then I will remove the workaround and the option to disable it :tada:

Hey all,

Hope I’m not high jacking but is there a way to reduce the 300 seconds for ‘away’ Wi-Fi clients? Say like 60 seconds?

I guess I’m asking if something like this is possible:

device_tracker
  - platform: unifi
    consider_home: 60

Cheers,

Linton

For anyone wondering, it’s in Unifi Controller 6.0.41. See the release notes here:

Fix showing disconnected wireless clients as wired clients.

Would you mind try it out by disabling the management of wifi bug? See if its completely fixed
