And remember this, so you can access HA over SSH if lovelace is not loading
Haha yes you’re perfectly right that a crisis makes us learn & discover more stuff…!
I’ve given back the borrowed Terminal & Keyboard and am mainly a ‘GUI’ man with a secret dread of anything requiring screen line code (horrors of bygone era of windows DOS) but I was pleasantly surprised at the user-friendly nature of the CLI with help menus.
I may wait a day or two to get over the trauma of an inaccesible system before I do your diagnostic procedure… it all also and remind myself to make backups even more frequently.
Thanks to everyone for thier interest and the tips & guides.
Hi Francis, thanks for that. I actually already had SSH/Terminal add on installed but I never (stupidly…?) have it running because I have this idea of the less stuff running that I don’t immediately need, the less ‘stress’ on the system. I only use them occasionally to try out stuff.
So the message and lesson from you is to LEAVE add-on running ALL the time so I always have a ‘back door’ into HA without having to borrow terminals… excellent tip!!
