Hi everyone,
Quick update on where Couch Control stands today. I’ve spent the last few months on bigger updates, fixing the main issues from 1.0, and preparing the iPad version in parallel. This release should feel substantially better than launch, including proper onboarding.
Whats New:
- New Onboarding with simple HK/HA room selection and preconfigured theme selection
- Fullscreen view to read statistics (HA and Weather data)
- Fullscreen view to read Weather forecast
- Fullscreen view for Cameras (up to 9 cameras in split screen, Homekit and HA)
- Fullscreen view For Media
- Fullscreen view for calendar (next update)
- New 2x1, 2x2, 3x2 and 4x2 chart widget
- New 1x1 sensor block widget
- New 2x1 Weather widget
- Theme system (pressing "apply to all..." buttons change default styling for each widget type on this specific Page, you can view the default stylings for each widget by going to the add Widget view)
- Prebuilt themes
- Theme Export and Import (via localhost server you can export or import your theme as a file and use it on a different device or share it with others)
- Background picture upload via localhost
- Fixed iCloud sync issues
- Color and White tone controls for light widgets,
- Much more device specific controls in the widgets context menus for HA
- Fixed external server URL connection issues
- Added the missing fan type In Homekit
- Added new Weather data sources (Bright sky (Best for Germany), MET Norway (has Global Data) and the US National Weather Service (US only))
- Much faster App start
- Better performance
- Better Liquid Glass fallbacks on non supported devices
- many more other bug fixes
To answer a couple questions under this Post:
-
the percentage controls will most likely stay like that without a real slider, the reason is that in my opinion precise sliders don't translate very well for the Siri Remote controls. I could add more options tho so it's 20,40,60,80,100 or even 10,20,30... if that's something people want. Also as a last option, you can create light presets yourself inside the app at any color or percentage and use that preset through the context menu.

Choosing Homes appears hard to implement to me. At least for HomeKit the Apple TV is part of a specific Home and can't be switched easily as far as I understand. I could add something for different Home assistant Home servers. It wouldn't be 2 servers being connected at the same time on the same page tho and separated from each others I fear. I would address this with the iPad version since there multiple Homes is part of the main Concept because its possible with HomeKit as well.
Also thanks for the nice Feedback!
