Current Zone in Person Data

Currently, a person’s state is either “home” or “not_home”. It would also be useful to know the current friendly name of the zone the person are in, so automations that trigger when persons move from zone to zone could derive the name of the current zone in an efficient way.

That’s exactly how it works currently. When the person is home it shows “home”, when the perSon is in a zone, it shows the name of the zone, when the person is not home and not in a zone it shows “not_home”. You are probably looking at the device tracker.xxx entity and not the person.xxx entity. Did you bind your device tracker to the person?

Thanks for the clarification. I’m observing and triggering on Person; I think the thing I’m hung up on is trying to trigger on “not_home”. I posted a better explanation of the end goal of what I’m after here:
