Not related to the update as there were no updates that would cause this. Your camera was probably just unresponsive or something else was wrong.
I find that time to time, when people install new custom components the add integration cannot find it straight ahead. So people come to the forum to tell it, then come back again, that next time when they checked it it was there.
I have a feeling when the code is updated it does the same. It takes to update the python package in the background.
It sure sounds very interesting! I am curious whether the price will be as competitive as with the cameras.
I hope the same. But I am curious what payment model they will try to build in for the Hub and sensors to make the extra.
The sub 1 GHz communication protocol is quite interesting. It might be something new, proprietary. For a âsecurityâ device, I assume secure communication protocol.
Hi!
I installed this integration a couple weeks ago on three Tapo cams. Some day ago i discovered that they were offline. The reasons was they got new IP from my router. So i deleted all three but now i cant re-install them, complaining that the password is wrong. I tried with new user and password still not accept.
Anyone has any idea?
Hello, try restarting the cameras and make sure you are entering correct credentials.
I also recommend to set static IP on them.
Hmm, tried that more than once, also restarted HA more than once. The IP is fixed in the DHCP manager by its MAC.
I canât see how i setup the C310 to static IP. Canât find anything on Tapo support either.
I am running 2022.6.5 and i saw something about discover DHCP IP that will be obsolete in 2022.6.
You need to do it in your router DHCP settings.
Yep. That is the only way. The IP on each cam is now locked to a fixed address in the DHCP area.
Still, the integration wont accept the password.
If the integration complains about the password, then either the username or the password is wrong.
Well, it does not accept any. I can login on the app to verify the account name and password, that tells me that the camera has stored my name and password.
But I canât add the to HA.
Can you share any warnings or errors from the log when you are trying to set up your camera?
Otherwise, follow this:
I would check with VLC that is it working at all.
I found the problem The C310 & C200 does not support streaming over IP when a SD card is inserted. I removed the memory card and then i got able to stream by Agent DVR and connect it to HA. I then inserted my SD card back and HA still can access everything except for streaming video, that is disabled.
Do you have it set to continuous recording?
I have a C100 and C200 and both of them have an SD card. And I have never seen this issue.
No, only at detected motion. Running all cams on the latest fw.
One of my C200 took a couple of hours waiting after restart of both cam and HA before HA accepted the password but now all three is up and running.
I have the same setup, camera with SD card, record on motion. (Except, I am running an older firmware.) I have no issue accessing it. And to be honest, it doesnât really make any sense at all to have that limitation. Are you not accessing the cameras from some other source as well? Streams can be limited to 1, 2 may be 3 at the time, most of the cases 1 or 2. It really sounds like you have some network issues.
I would set the DHCP server to provide fix IP to the cameras. I would power down the cameras. Power down then the router/wifi network. Then power up the router/wifi network, wait a few minutes, then power up the cameras slowly one by one with the SD card inserted.
Use an application like FING to check the network to verify IP and MAC addresses.
Once they are up and running, try to access them from VLC, or add them from scratch in HA.
All what you explained doesnât make any sense really. It seems more that you have some networking issues.
By the way what is your Router/Wifi network devices? A cheap quality equipment can explain it all. I had issues where cameras (other brand) running on WiFi and streaming all the time could wreck the whole WiFi network.
The Tapo app declares very clearly that if there is a SD card present no streaming will work as NVR is disabled. You must be running a very very very old firmware.
I donât have a cheap or bad router.
Without SD card there no problem to stream with VLC, HA or Agent DVR.
My cams works great now as I found the issue.
Can you share a screenshot of this please? It doesnât make any sense at all.
Do you use Tapo Care? I mean recording to Tapoâs Cloud server.
I just looked up the website, and I can see what you mean:
Q3.4: Why canât I use Tapo Care, SD card, and NVR at the same time?
A: Due to the limited hardware performance of the camera itself, Tapo Care works best with one of the NVR or SD card recordings.
If you are using an SD card and Tapo Care at the same time, the NVR(RTSP/ONVIF) will be disabled.
To restart the recording on the NVR, please remove the SD card from the camera.
And actually the answer for the amount of streams is there as well:
Q3.3 Can multiple accounts/devices view the Tapo camera at the same time?
A: Currently, each camera can be controlled or managed by only one account on the Tapo App. You can share it with 2 different accounts at most and these two accounts can only access live view and playback.
Each camera supports up to 2 simultaneous video streams. You could use up to 2 devices to live view the camera at the same time using the Tapo App or the RTSP. You could view the playback on only one device using the Tapo App at the same time
Hi!
Quick question regarding motion sensor. I have three C100âs set up and all integrated in HA (no issues there). However I do see in the Tapo-app that motion has been detected but my binary sensor in HA doesnât update.
Same network, latest FW, 2022.7.2 (core installation on raspbian os)
Any thoughts on what the issue could be?
Thanks for a great integration!
