Perhaps you did not accept the term with:
accept_terms: true
Without that, no cert files will be created.
It depends how you configure the VPN client on your phone. Depending on the setup, only traffic for the HA IP address will use the VPN, or all traffic will. Check with your VPN provider.
Not sure why everyone here is so gung ho about using a VPN, over 80/443 with duckdns, Nginx Proxy Manager, and a local DNS like Adguard.

So you give up port forwarding 80/443 on a webserver with little vulnerabilities. →
To open up an OVPN, or L2TP port for VPN.
You still end up with a port open, but now if your VPN Credentials or keys are compromised, you get free routing to your whole internal network available to the VPN server as a client. lol…
I also don’t get it, but my guess is many people are quite paranoid.
Add to that zero computer knowledge, and there you go…
