Ecobee and resuming last hvac mode

Hiya!

I am looking to create an automation that will stop the ecobee if my windows are open, then resume when they are closed. I already have a sensor that knows about the windows.

For a little background, I use HA to switch Ecobee comfort settings. In the morning it may be nice and I have the windows open, so I’d like to stop the Ecobee from heating or cooling if the windows are open.

Is there a way to remember the last HVAC mode that isn’t “off” so it can revert back to that mode automatically when I close the windows? Or a better way to achieve this?

After looking through the documentation, I don’t see anything that stands out: ecobee - Home Assistant

Thanks!

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am looking to do the same thing.
