I am just getting started out on ZHA and have just ordered a CC2652 Zigbee USB dongle. I am trying to plan out my setup and figure out how I am going to spread the Zigbee signal throughout the home. I do not have a large network of Zigbee devices yet, but I do have a number of Eero Pro 6 routers providing the internet across the house.
I believe the Eeros can be used as Zigbee extenders, but I read somewhere that this can only work through the Alexa app. Does anyone know if the Eeros can be used as Zigbee signal extenders through ZHA? Will ZHA be able to identify them as Zigbee products?
If the Eeros will not work, then I’ll probably have to buy some cheap CC2531 sticks and flash them with router software…
Thanks for the link - makes it a little easier I guess if it’s purpose built as a router. That said, you can also buy a bare board CC2531 with an antenna for like $10 and flash it with router firmware, can’t you?
On Eero, I agree - they are not cheap. However, they do have Wifi6 and they work pretty well for good Wifi distribution across my home. The Zigbee extender feature is just a nice little extra feature that I was wondering if I could finally take advantage of.
Totally agree can anyone confirm the zigbee implementation will work with home assistant?
Am looking to upgrade my wifi and hoping to utilise the zigbee as an extender
Bump- it would be amazing if someone can confirm Eero can be a main zigbee hub for HA.
I’m using a Smartthings hub v3 via the integration, but could sell that and get an Eero pro 6 for similar money second hand, for a WiFi upgrade and cleaner setup with local Zigbee.
I want to know the same thing. I gave up on searching to see if eero would work and just paid the amazon tax to get the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E.
