Emulated Hue + Hue Entertainment API / Hue Sync app?

Background: I just completed a rehab of my hot tub and I’m looking to some fun accent lighting to it. Unpacking “fun” a little bit more, I’m looking to have the lights move with music playing through my outdoor speakers. This can be accomplished with Hue lights in concert with the Hue Sync app.

Around the perimeter of the hot tub, I want to add strip lighting to it. Philips Hue now offers an outdoor light strip, though it’s pretty pricey–it would cost $320 to just wrap around my hot tub! In light of that, I’m considering a DIY solution like outlined in by Robert on The Hook Up (@TheHookUp).

So, my question is: does anyone know if you can connect an emulated hue bridge to the Hue Sync app, enabling our own LED lighting solutions to work with it? Or, if there’s another creative solution to get lights to interact with a music source, I’m all ears!

Confirmed this approach doesn’t work as emulated hue component does not work with Hue Sync app.
