I don’t have Solar PV, but a large UPS system that I charge from “grid”. When I set up my “energy” going in and out of the batteries, I cannot tell HA that I do this, so it thinks I’m charging the batteries with “magic”
Long story short, the grid usage goes to “home” and the batteries output also goes to “home” but it’s partially the same energy because I charge batteries from grid. This also causes HA to think that the energy going into the batteries is “returned to grid”. Assume because there’s nothing charging the batteries with the current logic. Suggest to add functionality to select whether you are using Solar PV or grid to charge and update flow logic of energy.
I have a similar problem. I have PV panels with batteries that charge from the panels during the day, and at night, if the batteries are discharged, they are charged and the house is powered from the mains. I have an indication of how much energy is fed into the battery at that time, but it cannot be visualized on the energy panel
Same…I have just removed the “battery system” from my energy dashboard. My solar input that effectively charges/inverter to AC picks up my solar. Assumption basically is that I have no magic power so I took battery Dashboard in the HA
Exactly the same scenario as the OP here. I also have just batteries - no solar - batteries are charged overnight using cheap rate electricity and then power the house for the rest of the day. While the “Energy Usage” charts looks reasonable, the Energy Distribution graphic is wrong - as OP says, it thinks the batteries are charging “by magic” and then shows the house as consuming both the energy from the grid that was used to charge the batteries as well as the energy discharged from the batteries!
Not sure whether this is actually a feature request or just a bug (given it’s possible to configure a “no solar” set up in the dashboard).
