I do not see the energy values in the device and have tried rebooting, soft resetting etc. Am I missing something obvious?
From my understanding, the Matter specification does not yet support Energy related “clusters”.
I could be wrong but I think the reason others in this thread have been able to get this to work is because they added Eve Energy via HomeKit Controller (as a HomeKit Accessory) instead adding it via Matter:
Using the homekit controller integration I am not able to find any items in my house
Reading through this as I have a couple of Eve Energy plugs that recently were updated to support Matter and Thread. Looks like Home Assistant can only pickup energy monitoring via HomeKit as Matter 1.0 does not support energy monitoring and there is no indication as to when energy monitoring will be introduced to the Matter standard.
Probably have to bring it all in via Homekit to make it work
Matter 1.3 seems to support energy monitoring.
With Matter 1.3, any Matter device will be able “to report actual and estimated measurements including instantaneous power, voltage, current, and others, in real-time, as well as its energy consumption or generation over time.”
Matter 1.3 arrives with new device type and features - The Verge
I think both device producers and matter platforms waiting each other to implement new features. And apparently we’ll all need to wait for Apple to support new Matter versions, since it’s the biggest backer of the Matter protocol. Apple announced that Home app will support robots vacuum cleaners in “late 2024”, which is part of Matter 1.2. And there is a hope for 2025.
As far as Eve Energy smart plugs go, Home Assistant picks up the energy monitoring on them and has done for several months now. The prior posts in this thread were before Home Assistant supported that.
As for Matter 1.3 and Energy Monitoring, that will depend on manufacturers as to whether they update firmware or not.
