Hi,
Z-Wave is a mesh radio system which means long single hops are not the best use of the design. Mesh needs more nodes; not more RF power, so add intermediate mains-powered devices to act as routers along the way.
Radio never propagates the way you expect it will, so add nodes and leave the mesh to sort itself out.
