Forecast.io

Hi all,

I think I’m having a situation with Forecast component.

I’m using, as many others I presume, Forecast.io (https://home-assistant.io/components/sensor.forecast/) to get the weather information.

Today I received an email from forecast web site because the big amount of requests I’m having. When I got into the site I see that, as of today I’ve made 33,397 requests! and counting.

Can I have some information on how this component works? how many requests per day should this component be doing?

any help would be great

Hi,

The same thing happened to me today, I checked on the forecast api website, it seems that the number of requests per day increased the day I installed the latest version.

same problem here:

yeah, … on 2016-05-08 is when I did the update that changed this.

Take a look at this thread. I was talking with two other users having the same issues. Not sure what the cause is - I was originally on a Windows platform and I mentioned I wasn’t having the issue, but this weekend I moved over to a RasPi like the other users and I am still not having the issue. Whatever it is, it seems to be affecting a limited number of users.

Are you both on virtual environment HA installs? I was wondering if something may have been updated that is causing a conflict. I am on a VENV Pi install and not experiencing the issue.

You may want to report this as a bug on github or mention it in gitter.im since there’s been a few users reporting it.

I’m in RasPi with the new installer method (that I think is using VEnv)

I use the docker container (https://hub.docker.com/r/homeassistant/rpi2-home-assistant/)

So looks liks is spread across plattforms. We have Windows, RPI, Docker …

yeah, I think I’m going to open ont of those bugs.

Well there goes that idea.

I just logged into my API dashboard and I’m showing normal numbers and no significant uptick in requests since I start on Windows and moved to Pi.

I would definitely hit GitHub and report the issue.

here: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/issues/2190

Unless one of you is on Windows, there wasn’t any reports of this on Windows in the thread. In fact, I was on Win10 and didn’t have the issue. And when I moved everything over to Pi, I’m still not having any problems.

Just to clarify.

cool!!!

that was fast! … I was still trying to figure it out how to create it!.

@rpitera,

yeah, wasn’t clear there … i just tested in Windows and I have the same issue

maybe you can add your setup as well so it becomes clearer

Same issue here, on ArchLinux (without venv, docker or anything).

Weird. How about I send you my API key via PM? Just to test - not as a replacement fix! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

At least then you would be able to rule out the account as the issue. But please test it quickly - I don’t want to use up my requests!

I don’t think it’s the account. It’s at least several accounts.

Or it could be a similar issue with all the affected accounts. I just PM’d @davedan my API key to test so we can see for sure.

The same with me. A huge bill!!!

Same here. Response I got was

"According to our records, that’s not the case: you’ve used $20 or so worth of traffic in the last month. I assume you’re uninterested in paying for the traffic, so I’ve capped your account at the free limit of 1000 req/day: if you ever want that lifted, please contact me."

So also since updating
