I’m currently running TileBoard on an Amazon Fire HD using Fully Kiosk Browser and wanting to run some TTS commands to it. I have no issues running the TTS commands to it using either a curl command or the REST API in the following format
Im just wondering, because it is plain text how can i get it to read me the state of certain components not just what i’ve typed?
I want to set up something like a good morning briefing so, when my alarm goes off in the morning it will say something like “Good morning, the weather today is going to be 25 degrees” etc etc.
Anyone know if I need to do anything especial to get the TTS working on the Fire tablet? I’m using Fully and the Fire specific Fully build and trying to send ‘speech’ to it, which works according to the REST API, but no sound comes out of the tablet. Yes, volume is turned up!
I’ve used the Amazon Toolbox to attempt to strip lots of the Amazon gunk out, but in reality I think it’s just hidden rather than stripped with the Fire 7.
I’m now running Lineage on my Fire 7 7th Gen (so a COMPLETE change of OS) and TTS now works. Weird! It took about a minute the first time for the first TTS to work, but now they are instant. So, for anyone struggling with TTS on a Fire 7 - I recommend installing Lineage.
