Hello everyone! I upgraded HA today to 2024.8.0. Following the upgrade there was a notification informing me the upgrade required some changes to my database. Below is screenshot of the impact to my MariaDB, which resulted in over
a 30% increase in size going from 658mb to over 1GB. Curious if anyone knows why?
It just needs repacking and purging. You can wait until this happens (last Sunday of the month?) or do it now. Go to Developer Tools → Actions and do this:
After a few minutes you should see your DB size return to normal.
PS: 1GB is still a very small database.
Ok thanks. That got me down to 770, which sure helps.
I created an automation to Purge the db once a week, only keeping 7 days. The db size is still around 1GB. Any other ideas?
There’s no need to do that. It happens automatically on the first Sunday of the month.
Are there any additional ways to reduce the size of the database? 1GB seems like a lot.
1GB is not a lot, but there is some advice here: How to keep your recorder database size under control
