HA gets unresponsive

I have a Raspberry Pi 3b running HA. This is working fine, but from time to time HA gets unresponsive. ANd this always happens after updating the HA core I can’t not connect to the HA interface via the app or web interface anyone, so also not able to reboot. When I try to connect via SSL, most of the time iI do get a connection, but I can not log in with the user ‘PI’ to do a propper reboot via SSL. Is there another way to do a proper reboot, instead of unplugging the power supply to the PU? (I know this is not very good, but since it seems I have no other option)

Anyone? Should I change hardware. The constant unplugging the power supply seems to already have destroyed Home Assistant now. So all the hard work is kind of gone. WIll A Raspberry 4 be better? I dont want to spend hundreds of euros on it, but anything that is in that same price range is good

The memory of 1GB is getting to be too small for HA, so a RPI3 is indeed increasingly problematic. A RPI4 will do fine, I would go for the 4Gb or higher model and a SSD if you don’t already have one. SD cards will fail sooner than later.

A RPI5 is indeed too pricey, if you consider that I would instead by a cheap NUC for the same money. If you add up all the components you need for RPI5 (power supply, SSD, case) a NUC in the same price range wil give you way more power to do lots of other stuff besides HA.

A RPI4 will be able to run HA and quite a few addons as well.

I have a different view of SD cards: SD Card Reliability.
