on which ha version did you apply this backup ?
The same 10.3 OS. Before restoring, noticed that the OS version is still the current core version: 2023.7
I guess that was also my concern - should the core version match the version of the back backup? I could try installing 10.2 which will have the older core version that will be closer to the backup file.
Install 2023.5, restore with a backup from 2023.4 (Don’t install 2023.7)

@boheme61 Ok I’ll try this approach if I can. I believe the OS version automatically installs the latest core version i.e. 10.3 auto preloads 2023.7.
I’ll try 10.2, and see if that preloads an older version.
Click on “Assets” under the version you choose i.e10.2 , or 10.1
