Harmony Hub + Emulated Hue - "No Connection" in Harmony UI After Pairing in build 0.78

Just incremental upgrade to 0.78.3

Definitely could be on the Harmony side. However, Harmony connects to Hue without issue. It concerns me that the HA emulated Hue no longer “presses the button”

Yes it does, you confirmed that here:

All pressing the button on the phillips hue bridge did was create this exact location on your network, long enough for devices to grab the JSON.

EDIT: To clarify, HA always has the button pressed because you can always access the http://<HA IP Address>:8300/api/pi/lights

Ok, that makes sense.

I’m not following why going the preferred route via Harmony to add devices (directly to Philips Hue) fails while scanning wifi works. From what you’re telling me, that’s unrelated.

I’m out of ideas as to why this stopped working all of a sudden.

@petro thanks for your help on this.

I donno either. Your host IP in your config matches your static HA IP? You may have omitted it in your config. If you omitted it, you should be good. If you didn’t, make sure it matches the IP for your HA instance. That’s really the only thing that I could see screwing it up. If you aren’t using dhcp reservation on your router for the device HA is running on, it could change during reboot (router).

I have an IP reservation for HA, so it’s static and therefore, I omitted it from the config.

And it’s clearly working due to the Echo seeing and controlling the devices. It’s just the Harmony connection for some reason is screwed up.

The only other change I made in the last two weeks from I changed my network from eero to Ubiquiti, but same subnet and IP reservations, so that shouldn’t have impacted it. Maybe there’s a port being blocked or something…

For shits and giggles, maybe add the host into the config? If that works… It’s definitely a bug in the component.

Just set the host ip and listen port to 8300, so will wait for battery powered z-wave devices to re-register and reboot. Will update in 24-48 hours…

Just set my harmony up in under 5 minutes without failure on the current release. It’s gotta be something with your network.

That’s great to hear!

I made the change to my config to add the listen port, but after reboot there’s been no change the ability to pair and/or device connections.

Anyone with Ubiquiti experience know of a setting that may be the blocking the connection? That’s all I can think of at this point… Unless someone else has any other ideas.

And out of nowhere, it works again…I really don’t get it. Nothing changed to my knowledge. Fun.

What do I do if the json does not show up? There seems to be a problem suddenly with my IP address because I can only connect using hassio.local. I also cannot connect at all via samba (I’m on a Mac). When I try to list the lights it always times out. Everything was working fine just 2 days ago and I have not done any updates since. I just can’t figure out why the IP address isn’t connecting now. When I ping it it continually comes back as unreachable.

sounds like your ip changed.

After a lot of frustration I found out that’s what happened, but I can’t figure out how/why. I have my home assistant assigned a static ip of xxx.xx.xx.54 but for some reason it just randomly changed to xxx.xx.xx.51. When I look at the ipv4 on my router, both addresses show up. Any idea how?

Sounds like a bug on your router. did you setup DHCP reservation on your router? If yes, I’d just reboot the damn thing and see what happens.

jumping on here in the hope that someone may have some ideas. i’m trying to get a Harmony Hub to connect to my emulated Hue on a Pi 4. All IOT devices, Harmony and HA are on a separate VLAN that has access out to the internet.

The emulated Hue appears to be setup correctly, i see the description.xml and the lights json at the designated url’s.

The Harmony can see the emulated Hue at 10.0.0.10:8080 when i scan for wifi devices.

But even after leaving the My Harmony program running overnight it never progresses past the press the button screen.

The reason why i chose to post here than create a new thread is that i also run unifi wifi AP’s and switch (edgemax) and i found reference to that both here and on the unifi forum. but in the end the OP’s problem was resolved without making any changes to unifi config.

Annoyingly the emulated Hue that runs as an addon connects fine from the Hue app on my phone, but AFAIK the Harmony doesn’t work with that one.

Any pointers gratefully received. ta
