Just checking, as the instructions here fail every time for me when I try to link the account. I just wondered if these instructions were now obsolete?
I had this problem over the past week (assuming yo mean) add HASS to Google Assistant on Android to import everything. I used a second Android phone and it worked for whatever reason. Here was my post. If this is the same issue I can give you some other things I tried/was advised to try
Thanks for your reply. My problem is slightly different (I did try on a 2nd phone, but got the same problem). I’m not using HA cloud. I get a 404 error when I try to add the “skill” to Google Home on the phone (it tries to connect to my server on port 8123 - which is correct - but fails).
I’d be grateful if you could pass on any advice that you got, in any case!
You mean the Google setup?
I’ve tried it too.
But the webpages aren’t exactly the same anymore. I couldn’t succeed.
Then setup nabu Casa… And that worked. You have to pay for it…
I recently got a networking itch and set up home assistant behind pfsense and HAProxy. I was using nabu casa for my google integration so I gave this a go, but I too tried and failed. I’m no expert, but I had experience poking around in the google cloud environment already, so I was able to follow along with the documentation. I made it all the way to point where google home sees my test app in the list of integrations, but it failed silently when when i clicked it to set it up in google home.
I really only used the integration with nabu casa to trigger scripts and scenes with my voice, and even then i rarely used it because everything is automated. I’ve since moved to using double clicks on wall switches to trigger the scenes, but I can never remember if it was two clicks or three, etc. It’s easier to just say “google, lock the room lighting” or whatever I actually wanted to happen.
I’d use IFTTT but it aint free, so I’d rather pay nabu casa if it comes to it. I wish there was some webhook service for google home. This would be so much easier.
Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like there is no longer any way of integrating Google Assistant with HA without using a subscription service, which I don’t want. Looks like I’ll need to find a different solution.
i may not be understanding but i set it up a couple weeks ago. Are you just talking about voice assistant? if so, i set it up with Duckdns.
Yes it’s just voice control using Google Assistant that I wanted. DNS isn’t a problem as I already use another dynamic DNS service which works fine. When you set it up did you do it manually, or did you use the monthly HA subscription service?
I set it up manually, no Nabu Casa.
Would you mind posting the entries that you have in configuration.yaml for Google Assistant integration?
