Nice! Will it be included in next update?

Hi,
I’m new to hassio. Huge learning curve.
I just wanted to know if it’s possible to update a component like ffmpeg before the hassio update comes out.
If so how do you do it?
Cheers,
Patrick

Hi!

Sure is a learning curve but its fun

No i dont think you can do that, ive read somewhere that someone did remove the SDCard and mounted it on a linux install and changed some file. But i think that its better to wait, prolly a fix on this Sundays release.

Yes you can, you need to recreate it in the custom_components folder and then change the updated files. I posted how I did it exactly what you want to do for the remote component here…

When the update comes out, you just need to delete the relevant folder from custom_components and it will revert to the proper one.

Yep : “Update ffmpeg to 1.7 to fix severals problems (@pvizeli - #9029)”

HA still crash when I setum my rstp cam

Same here :frowning:

Same here. I was able to see myself from the frontend for a second and then hass went unresponsive. I’m using hass in docker.

Same here, it looks like the patch didn’t work.

I’m still having this problem with Hassio V53.

Has anyone found a fix or a work-around here?

Interesting same here Hass becomes absolutely unresponsive when calling the tab with my rtsp xiaomi cam ill setup hassio again and just add this cam into dashboard maybe this will work as I need I only there

Let us know if this trick works

Just tersted with 3 xiaomi cams and it works fine so far let me post it later

FFMEG still dont works for me

what to put in configurationb for ffmpeg?

In hassbian I had this

ffmpeg:
  ffmpeg_bin: /usr/bin/

Are you using a raspberry pi? I am also experienced similar issues when trying to integrate the new Ring Video doorbell camera…

If it is just camera’s you want to use, and have a couple of them, I would suggest setting up a dedicated cam server running zoneminder and then simply using the Zoneminder component…

Another pi3 is ok?

pi3 may be just about ok for maybe 2 camera’s… try playing around in a Virtual machine first to see what kind of performance you will need for your setup… I have just got a second hand quad core server off ebay for exactly this purpose… Much better to have a dedicated CCTV system for recording etc, this then can be fed through to HA in the Zoneminder component… Downside is ZM is super power hungry…

Play around in Virtual box first… you can always backup your config if you have phpmyadmin installed after you install zoneminder:

  1. https://www.virtualbox.org/
  2. https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ubuntu_Server_16.04_64-bit_with_Zoneminder_1.30.4_the_easy_way
  3. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-secure-phpmyadmin-on-ubuntu-16-04

A good place to then go and look for all your different kind of camera’s is iSpy - https://www.ispyconnect.com/sources.aspx

One of my favourite little programs for windows machines is Yawcam which turns a usb camera into an IP Camera which you can pug into Zoneminder… - http://www.yawcam.com/

Lastly, I have to say, that at the moment, my favourite cams for inside are these… good quality… super cheap: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digoo-HD-960P-Wireless-WiFi-IP-Camera-Home-Security-Network-CCTV-IR-Night-Vision

Hope this helps…
