Hassio Change SD card

Hi Everyone  Not sure if this is the correct category? Sorry my bad, my first post btw

I have a Hassio instance running on a 8GB SD card on my RPI3.

And i would like to change to a 64GB SD card, and was wondering if it was good enough to just take a snapshot of the existing hassio instance and copy to my PC and then copying it over to the new SD card after a clean install on the new 64Gb card.

Will i lose plugins or add-ons?
I know that my Configs and everything will be copied when i take a snapshot, but will i lose anything?

I just want a plug and play type of thing with the expanded storage.

Do i need to clone the SD card and then edit the partiotion and make it bigger so i could use all of my 64 GB on the new one ?

What I would is do a snapshot put that on pc then do the 64gib thing start like new once all updated copy snapshot back to the backup folder on pi then do a restore and pray lol once restore I would do a hard reset ie power off pi and power it on

Yeah, i would like to just gamble but i kinda don’t want to take any chances aswell

I have done this a few times (for myself and helping friends upgrade)… easiest way is as follows:

* Create a snapshot of your current Hass.io installation.
* Copy it off to a computer or network share using either the Samba addon or the community IDE addon.
* Install HassOS on your new SD card and log in.
* Install either the Samba addon or the community IDE addon.
* Configure, start, and open the chosen addon.
* Use the addon to upload the snapshot to the "backup" directory.
* Open the side-menu then click Hass.io > Snapshots.
* Click the Reload icon in the upper-right corner of the pane.
* Click the desired snapshot, ensure all boxes are selected, then click 'WIPE & RESTORE'.
* After it is complete, log in and verify everything is working as expected; if not, you can always plug in your original SD card.

Thanks @mjoshd I will try this immedietly

Thanks again @mjoshd and @myle

As i tought it wasn’t harder than to just make a full snapshot, move it to a safe place on my PC and the reinstall hassio on the new SD card and download Samba Share and the drag and drop to the backups folder.

Works just as it should
