I am very curious about this.
If you don’t mind, go to the HA UI Device page for that bulb or switch where there is a “Device info” card and within that card is a “Device info” that you can expand via “V”. When you expand the Device info, what does it say about the device’s IP address(es) …does it show only an IPv4 address, or is there both an IPv4 and an IPv6 address?

I thought if IP6 wasn’t present then it reverets to IP4? I have no IP6 and yet I am using matter devices, and I have IP6 specifically completely turned OFF in Home Assistant.

I think you only turn it off in the HA container.
The other containers might still have IPv6 running.
