Sorry, but that’s a different issue. The Audio menu is managed by the operating system, not the add-on.
Thank you for your response.
I am on Ubuntu 20.10 but unfortunatly I do not have any idea on how to setup this.
Running HA on raspberry pi 4, worked perfectly - set up and working within 5 minutes.
Yeah same here,
Have all the latest software running in HA Supervised on a RPi 4
I’ve released a new version of the add-on - as usual, uninstall-reinstall to have it.
The reason for this is due to poor audio quality. In the last weeks, I’ve had lots of pops and crackles, up to the point of not being able to enjoy music anymore.
Tried different things - downgrading librespot, moving around the USB cables on my RPI4, moving a few radio devices away - to no avail. Switched back to the official add-on - it has the same issue, but much less noticeable.
Ended up re-compiling using Pulseaudio as the default backend, instead of Rodio/Alsa, now the pops and cracks are on par with the official add-on. @frenck as this seems to be a common issue, would you maybe point out where to start digging into this? haven’t seen any error in the logs, but it seems like some audio buffers might need some tuning.
As I have been looking for the answer myself, if you want to use HDMI Output e.g. on Raspberry PI 4, change the output from Default to Built-in Audio Stereo.
I have raised a merge request to include this in the documentation of the addon.
Hi,
this Add-on looks pretty cool. But is it also possible to use the audio of a different device?
For example, I have my Android TV connected which is connected to my stereo. So could I output to the TV instead of the RPi on which HA is setup on?
I don’t know if I understood properly, but here we go:
The addon is just a server for the spotify connect protocol, where you can send music from any device connected to the same network and compatible with spotify connect. The audio output is handled by the RPi, so the only options that you have are using the HDMI or the jack output. If you want to send the music to another device instead of the RPi you need to install there a spotify connect server, like this addon but for the Android TV (I assume that the Spotify Addon for android TV will work). Then you will have two devices to send the music on all your Spotify devices connected to the network.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for this great addon ! Is there anyway to enable a local storage of the musics to this addon or to Hassio like on the Spotify mobile app ? This would make the music continue even if the internet crashes.
If you are looking for something like “Downloaded” songs in the spotify app, I’m afraid it’s not implemented in librespot (not even sure if it’s allowed on Spotify Connect devices).
Otherwise, there’s the possibility to enable a local cache for audio files, but even in that case librespot will not preload an entire queue.
Thank you for your answer ! Do you please know how to proceed in order to enable local cache for audio files on hassio ?
Hm, I see now that neither my add-on nor the official one support setting a cache folder, and also that finally the official add-on has switched to librespot
- so there’s no point in keeping my version up-to-date In any case, keep in mind that enabling the cache might create excessive wear on your storage, if you use an SD card or an USB stick. Use it only with an SSD/HDD.
@frenck I’ll create a couple of PRs to add some features soon
Hi @giannello or someone else please provide some guidance on what settings are required on windows host virtual box home assistant installation? I only see 2 outputs analog and default in Spotify connect and do not get audio with either options. In virtualbox I’ve selected windows direct sound and Intel HD audio. I can see and cast to ha but do not get any audio out.
Sorry, I have no experience with HA on VirtualBox. Keep in mind that audio input and output are managed by home assistant, not by the add-on.
Thanks @giannello can @frenck or somone with vitualbox on windows host please comment on whether this is due to lack of audio drivers within home assistant? is there any other way to set it up?
Sad to hear the news - still missing the create_entity
option in the official addon I will keep your addon as long as possible since reading the Spotify status without a delay works like a charm compared to the official Spotify integration.
Edit: Requested this feature on Github (Feature request: Entity for Spotify Connect status · Issue #107 · hassio-addons/addon-spotify-connect · GitHub).
Having an issue with multiple Spotify accounts. Both mine and my husband’s accounts are successfully integrated (both Spotify & Spotast), and I can get both of our playlists to display in the dashboard, however, it seems like only one account is actually usable.
We only need to play from one Spotify account at a time of course, but the point of multiple accounts (at least in this case) is access to our own playlists. I see in the Media Browser that only my playlists are shown and my name is in the top left, but I’m not sure how the media browser is connected to Spotify or if this is even relevant since I can see his playlists in the dashboard - there’s just no option to play them.
Do I need an input_select to choose which Spotify account should be used? How should this work? I initially had our playlists in a swipe card to swipe left for mine and right for his and based on the visible playlist it would select the correct media.spotify_user as the source but it didn’t work that way either. No matter what I try, his playlist card always shows “No devices found”. (Separated into individual cards for the purposes of this screenshot).
Thoughts?
Hi, after some times using 2 Sonos speakers and 1 Chromecast (JBL) apparently they disappeared from source_list in media_player.spotify entity. I can see in my Spotify iphone app, as well in Spotify android app, but missing in HA. The Sonos entity/devices are fine, but cannot select the speakers from my lovelace buttons or forcing the service select_source… I have uninstalled Sonos integration, Spotify Connect integrations and reinstalled, no solution… someone have same problem? Is there a way to force the source_list and add my devices?
My fork has been updated with the latest changes from upstream. The old repository has been deprecated, and the new one is available at https://github.com/giannello/addon-spotify-connect
Hi @giannello my spotify connect works intermittently on ubuntu 20.04 with HA supervised. I am getting the following error. Any idea how I may fix this. thanks.
