Home Assistant Community Add-on: UniFi Controller

I have 2 problems with the AddOn (latest version):

  1. I need to assign each device to the controller via SSH. When I unplug the device and plug it back in, I often have to reassign the device again via SSH.

  2. i have a USW Mini Switch which does not support SSH. I have no chance to assign this to the controller (gets stuck in adopt loop).

In general: my home assistant is on the same network as the AP / switches. When I install the controller on the same Rasperry PI on the Debian OS, it works fine and all devices are directly online within a few seconds.
The points from the documentation regarding “Infrom Host” probably don’t exist on the latest Unifi controller either.

Can someone help me there

Hi all,

I had a few AP working well with a Unifi Console running on a custom Debian server. I wanted to get rid of that, so I installed the UniFi Controller on my HA, then I took a backup on the Debian server and restored it on HA.
So far so good, however now I can “see” my 3 AP but they are stuck in a “Adopting” loop. I tried "forget"ting them, resetting them using ssh (with set-default), manually make them request adoption with set-inform to no avail. Whatever I do they’re still perpetually adopting and my WiFi is broken.
Any hint ?

----

Edit: I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the UniFi Console on HA, not starting from a backup. Same thing, my devices are stuck in “Adopting” mode.

----

Edit2: Apparently the APs are in a loop where they get to “Adopting” than “Offline” or “Adoption Failed”. I tried “Advanced Adoption” (which doesn’t seem to do much more than a set-inform via ssh) but it still results in “Adoption Failed”.

----

Edit3: Sooo guess who didn’t read the docs completely ? Yes, an “Inform host override” later and it works. Sorry for your time loss.

Hello, I have HASSIO installed with UniFi Network Application addon.

I would like to enable/disable my children phones access from HASS. So I wanted to installed EdgeOS from HACS but after entering IP and credentials it shows me wrong credentials.
Normally i can access my Unifi dashboard on https://localhost:8443 - same IP as HASS

Please what is the correct setting for EdgeOS and is this the right addon? Should I enable something in Unifi controller? Must be SSL installed in Unifi (I use https:// but it has not valid cert) ?

EdgeOS runs on a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter.
The Unifi addon is a software that manages Ubiquiti Unifi products.
You have an EdgeRouter? Then it is the IP address of the router the HACS integration need to connect to

No, I have UAP AC only. But there is no Unifi Addon. Can you please describe what is the exact name of the addon you talk about? It is installed using HACS?

You are looking for UniFi Network Application which is in the Home Assistant Community Add-ons and you find it under Settings, Add Ons and the the Add-on store.

Note that Add-ons are not the same as integrations.

After you have installed the Add-on you need to add the Unifi integration to have Home Assistant talk to Unifi.

You do not have anything related to EdgeOS.

Thank you. YES I have Unifi Network Application installed and working. But where is this “Unifi integration”? Please can you help me with exact name of this integration? Or exact step by step process how to find it?

Thank you.

OH solved - it is under Ubiquity > Unifi Network
Thank you

So, it seems like Firefox now has a funny bug:
If you try to connect to the Network App, it says NO because of Self-Signed Cert. If you try to add an exception, it says NO because of “valid cert”. Deadlock.
@frenck said it with v1.0.0: use a RevProxy.
Does one have a config handy for the nginx n00b?

I use this :

It’s in the add-on store

that did the trick with unifi, thanks.
However, I’m still curious about the config. Can I somehow grep that from Frencks Plugin?

Just found this after having trouble with my Cloud Key Gen 1 dripping its config randomly.
Running my main on a virtual machine and the other site on a RPi 3b and it seems to work great.

I haven’t read thru all messages in this thread but is there some sensors that could be added to HA?
Like Traffic/VPN info/ and so on
I have USG Pro 4 on two sites and it would be nice to have some data from them in Home Assistant.
Is it possible to activate FW rules from HA?

https://community.ui.com/releases/UniFi-Network-Application-7-5-174/d05b091f-f00c-4ebb-8f42-b77e0adac78b is released as an official release, which has some very nice features. Any knows how to make a pullrequest with that latest version?

It usually takes somewhere from weeks to months from the release of a new version, until it will be available for HA.

Just wondering if anyone had any trouble with the controller that is installed in Home Assistant not showing up on the Unifi cloud service, had no troubles with this until tried this and noticed the install that is in Home Assistant is not showing up but my others do show up on the cloud service

Hey all,

How does upgrading controller version work with this add on. I realize that we have to upgrade the add-on itself in order to get the new controller version, but does it maintain the configuration, or would I have to do a backup restore operation to upgrade?

Thanks!

So as with any Docker container, the configuration is stored outside of the container, if that was your question.

I hope this is the right place for my question. Since some time ago, my Unifi Addon is not working anymore. The logs don’t show anything.

When I try to go to https://[ip]:8443 i get “HTTP Status 404 – Not Found”. I’ve tried to move to another controller outside of Hass but am stuck on adoption failed.

Does anyone have an idea where to start troubleshooting?

Thanks!
Rob

Edit: I couldn’t get it to work so I’ve moved the controller to an Proxmox LXC. It was a nightmare getting things up and running again, the backup would break the adoption everytime so I had to set everything up from zero. Took me the better part of the weekend to get everything up and running.

The updating inside of Home Assistant is totally dependent on Frenck to download the update and make a “package” for Home Assistant.

He is probably very busy, it usually takes weeks from release until there is a package available in Home Assistant.

I think the reason it is not possible just updating it manually, is because they want to test that the new version works, and that it does not break other functionality in HA.

I tried updating to haos 11 last night and my access points couldn’t be adopted in the controller. Has anyone else had issues after updating? They have been working fine for a long time and I have set the inform address prior
